American Basketball Training Methodology
At Basketball Offlimits, we believe that every player learns differently. For this reason, our American Basketball Training Methodology places the player at the centre of the learning process, creating an environment where technical development, decision-making, confidence and game understanding evolve together.
Our coaching philosophy combines the best elements of traditional American basketball development with modern player-centred teaching approaches. Rather than focusing exclusively on the repetition of technical skills, we seek to help players understand the game, solve problems and make better decisions in real playing situations.
Player-Centred Learning
Players are the true protagonists of the learning process. Training sessions are designed to adapt to each player’s developmental stage, learning pace and individual needs. Our objective is not only to improve basketball performance but also to develop confidence, autonomy, responsibility and a lifelong passion for learning and improvement.
Analytical, Global and Mixed Teaching Approaches
Our coaches combine analytical, global and mixed teaching approaches depending on the objectives of each learning situation. Analytical methods are used when introducing or refining specific motor skills through progressive technical exercises. Global approaches place players in realistic game situations where tactical understanding, perception and decision-making become essential. In many training sessions, both approaches are combined to maximise learning and transfer to competition.
Basketball Decision-Making and Basketball IQ
Basketball is a game of constant decision-making. For this reason, players are regularly exposed to situations that challenge them to read the game, analyse information, identify solutions and make effective decisions under pressure. Through this process, players develop stronger Basketball IQ and a deeper understanding of offensive and defensive concepts.
The Spectrum of Teaching Styles
Our methodology is inspired by the Spectrum of Teaching Styles developed by Muska Mosston. Coaches combine reproduction-based teaching styles, where players learn through demonstration, observation and guided practice, with discovery-based approaches that encourage creativity, problem-solving and independent thinking. This balance creates an active learning environment where coach-player interaction becomes a fundamental component of development.
Skill Development and Game Transfer
Technical development remains an essential component of the programme. Players work on ball handling, passing, footwork, shooting, finishing and defensive fundamentals through structured progressions. However, skill acquisition is never viewed as an isolated process. Every technical concept is progressively connected to real game situations to maximise transfer and long-term performance improvement.
Competition-Based Learning
Competition plays a central role in the American basketball development model. Throughout the week, players participate in small-sided games, situational drills and progressive competitive formats that encourage the practical application of newly acquired skills. These learning environments help players build confidence, resilience and decision-making abilities under realistic conditions.
Physical Performance and Injury Prevention
Basketball performance depends on much more than technical ability alone. In collaboration with Global Performance, players are introduced to age-appropriate strategies for athletic development, movement efficiency and injury prevention. These sessions help participants better understand the importance of physical preparation as part of long-term athletic development.

His extraordinary legacy includes iconic landmarks such as the Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, among many other masterpieces that have made Barcelona one of the world’s most admired cultural destinations. Gaudí’s innovative use of trencadís has become one of the defining symbols of Catalan art and architecture.

Historic clubs such as Joventut Badalona and FC Barcelona have played a fundamental role in the development of European basketball, combining elite competition with a strong commitment to youth development.
Barcelona: Home of the Legendary 1992 Olympic Dream Team
